Mandy & Matt Barren Ridge Wedding | Staunton Wedding Photographer

Sit back with a cup of coffee because this blog post has a lot of images!! I first met Mandy and Matt for their fall engagement session. Matt was deployed overseas and came home just as the leaves had changed for fall and their session was so beautiful. They continued to plan their wedding while Matt was overseas and with the help of family. I was so excited when they asked me to be their wedding photographer because I knew it was going to be a beautiful wedding! What I didn't know at the time was how emotional these two were. I cannot help but tearing up when couples express their love so openly with their friends and family, and I teared up more than once on this day too.

The wedding party set up at the Crimora Mine Retreat to get ready for the day. This log cabin was the perfect background for this mountain loving couple! The natural light poured in from all the windows and it was such a cheerful space to be in. The girls had a blast getting ready in their matching floral robes. The guys were downstairs doing a little more relaxing and shared some fun gifts for the groomsmen. Mandy and Matt chose not to see each other before the ceremony but did meet to exchange letters and say a prayer together before becoming husband and wife. The read their letters and headed to Barren Ridge to say I do.

The ceremony was held in the vineyards at Barren Ridge with an amazing view of the mountains. Mandy was driven through the vineyards in style by her father in a Ford model A. The reception was held indoors and was decorated in navy and gold, the perfect accents to the blush dresses worn by the bridal party. The couple wanted their wedding to feel "romantic and elegant but not overdone".

Now, I typically don't post images from the bouquet toss on my blog. However, this was the most epic bouquet toss (as seen in images) that I've ever edited!! The expressions on these women's faces are priceless, in every single image and on every single person. You'll also notice two arms that are reaching up pretty high in front, that is one high jumping tween!!! This series of images make me laugh every time I see them. It was a very fun bouquet and garter toss. The participants were very enthusiastic and the recipients of both the bouquet and garter were a couple which couldn't be more perfect. So once you view these you will understand why I chose to share them! Enjoy and congrats!

The night came to end with a little dancing and a sparkler exit. The sparkler exit went perfectly and ended with the perfect dip! I also noticed the full moon in the background after the crowd left. I believe we just missed the harvest moon, but it was too beautiful to pass it by without one last photo!

Urban Vineyard Wedding | Staunton Wedding Photographer

Jill and Blake had a lot of help planning their destination wedding. Coming from the Midwest they enlisted the help of several family members to find the perfect Church and reception venue for their Virginia wedding. I first met with the mother of the groom to learn all the details of their trendy wedding. It was going to be filled with beautiful dresses, flowers, an adorable "best girl", and an exciting exit. One thing I was most excited about when planning out the wedding photography details was taking the wedding party to downtown Staunton for portraits. Their BHLDN dresses were perfect for an urban backdrop and I had already had several spots in mind.

Church weddings are becoming more popular this year and this couple chose a gorgeous Catholic church in downtown Staunton, St. Francis of Assisi. The church just finished a complete renovation of their stonework and their rooms inside are filled with natural light. The best girl was on hand to help the bride get ready.

The ceremony took place at St. Francsis of Assisi Catholic Church in downtown Staunton. It's a beautiful church and their ceremony was equally beautiful!

As I mentioned earlier, I was very excited to have the chance to do portraits downtown. I love urban settings and this wedding party was dressed perfectly for this setting. We took a bus to a few spots in the downtown area. Unfortunately, after our first stop the skies decided to open up and the entire wedding party was soaked. They all took it in stride and we hid out for a few minutes, and while some ran to the bus the bride and groom decided to keep on going!

As fate has it, as soon as we boarded the bus the rain stopped! The wedding party took the time to dry off and freshen up and we all headed to Barren Ridge Vineyards for the reception. Barren Ridge is such a beautiful location all year. This time of year the vines are very green and lush. We decided to do a few more portraits in the vineyards before the reception began.

The reception was indoors at Barren Ridge Vineyards. The room had a warm glow and was filled with beautiful flowers, a cake that looked almost too good to eat,  and photographs of the couple. The views from the balcony off the reception hall are amazing and wait until you see their sunset photos!! Barren Ridge has the best sunsets in the valley.
